Snowpocalpse, Part Two

I was stuck at home today because of some very cold rain, but that’s Atlanta for you. My husband also reported that the guy in front of him at the grocery store bought a twelve pack of beer and a can of pineapple. Bread and milk I can understand, beer is a no-brainer, but I can’t figure out what the pineapple is for.

Supposedly we’re going to get some real-deal snow tomorrow, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Either way, my daughter’s school was closed so I have the dubious pleasure of working from home.

Working from home is not a joy when you have to entertain a three-year-old and you’re pregnant enough to pop at any moment. The combination of Elmo’s World and the Olympics made today rather surreal.

Also, my coworkers don’t quite get it — I don’t want to talk to you on the phone while I’m at home. My daughter thinks that only Grandma and Daddy call me on the phone, so she begs me to put it on speaker phone when anyone calls. She will then talk about how blueberries are delicious and how she is going to a birthday party soon. My coworkers, meanwhile, are hoping that I can solve their (often self-made) problems. I like my job, but I like it more when I am in the office.

For the love of all that is holy, just send me an email. Shoot, send me a Skype. Maybe text me if you’re crazy like that. If you call me and I answer the phone, and it sounds like I am whispering, it’s probably because I’m in the other room hiding from Sweetpea.

Forgive me if I’m griping a bit. I had hoped have a relaxing day at home. I got to wear comfy pants all day, right? (Actually, when you are as pregnant as I am, every day is comfy pants day. :P ) But I didn’t really have a chance to hear myself think. Let’s just say that naptime didn’t go as planned and leave it at that, okay?

So here I am with Sweetpea down for the count, twelve hours before my coworkers start calling me again. Do I feel like writing? Hell no. Am I going to keep my butt in the chair and get something on the page? Hell yeah. Am I probably going to fall asleep on the couch in the near future. It’s hellalikely.

Am I looking forward to tomorrow? Mmmm, not so much. Is spring here yet?
