Aether Tower 88 Is Down

While it has been quiet here, October has been a busy month for me.  I was challenged by Erin Justice over on Write Club Fight Club, so I completed a 6500 word steampunk suspense story, Aether Tower 88 Is Down, complete with ghosts and severed limbs.

I also attended a writing workshop with the amazing David Farland and I gearing up for NaNoWriMo tomorrow!  (More on that later)  For today, I want to tell you more about the short story challenge between me and new combatant Erin.

We each decided to write a suspense / horror short story in celebration of Halloween.  Here are all the rules we agreed to follow:

Rules:

• A Halloween Premier should be about the undead in some way, shape or form
• The starting line must read, “The lights flickered overhead”
• OMIT using the words: very, often, almost, nearly, barely, and suddenly
• The protagonist in the story has to scream at some point

• Fighters may choose a classic fairy tale, but the spin is they need to make the hero out to be the villain. Either in aspect or outright, heroes or heroines must be seen from their bad sides from the traditional tale.
• The ending must complete with, “And they all lived Happily Ever After…”
