For anyone who has not heard of it, ROW80 is “a writing challenge that knows you have a life.” You can check out all the details here but the short version is that you set personal goals and have 80 days to achieve them.
It’s like NaNoWriMo, but happens quarterly throughout the year, and the goals are much more tailored to what you need, especially if it isn’t simply getting more words on the page. People check in on Wednesdays and Sundays, so you can hold yourself accountable and reach your goals on time. :D
Tracy’s ROW80 Goals
Okay, so what about my goals? What do I want to achieve between Oct 07 and Dec 26?
1. Tidy up and submit Life of a Foundry Moth short story by 10/15. Not sure if anything will come of it; it’s a bit long for a short story, but maybe it will find a home. :)
2. Complete another short story I have sketched out.
3. Reorganize the big swampy middle of my novel work-in-progress The Dreamless City. Flesh it out and reach my word goal of 100,000 words. If I was starting from scratch, that would be 1250 words per day.
4. Until I figure out what my novel WIP needs, write at least 500 words per day, mostly during my lunch hour. Combined with the editing I am doing, I feel like this is a realistic goal for the next couple of weeks.
Dreamless City Update
Nissa, Daschel, and Reynard are still getting up to mischief, and I hope I’ll have more to share with everyone before the end of the month. Maybe one of the horse-racing scenes through the cobblestone streets of Rivenloss?
I have also been working on some story art with super-talented artist and amazing friend H.L. Fatnazzi. She doesn’t want me to share anything new right now, but let me just say that her concept sketches are amazing. Here’s a previous one I shared for Nissa.
Daily Dose of Piano Music
Listening to piano music often helps me through those sticky paragraphs. I also love Coldplay and the Hunger Games books, so this piano rendition of “Atlas” by Josiah Wilkinson hits all three bull’s-eyes for me. Enjoy your Tuesday!!
