While in my car on my lunch hour during this beautiful, windy day in the ATL, I realized that my day could have been worse.
I could have been the guy in the yellow sports car pulled over the cop… or I could have been the cop chasing the ticket he just wrote around and around in the intersection. Every time he got close to the fluttering paper, the wind would gust and blow it another dozen feet away. If anyone else had lost some paper in the intersection, horns would have been blaring and cars would have been zooming past the poor guy. But since he was wearing his policeman blues, everyone sat in their cars quietly and watched the lights as they changed from green to red.
So just remember, you could have been this poor guy today. (If you’re the cop and you’re reading this, dude, today was rough. You deserve a refreshing beverage and to watch the TV show of your choice tonight.)
And this totally gave me a great idea for another short story (and yes, this one would actually be short.) I can see some poor municipal employee in Rivenloss chasing his paper down the cobblestone streets. Maybe it’s Merrick, who’s been demoted to traffic cop after the end of Life of a Foundry Moth (except that we agreed that I’m killing everyone off, right?). He can be almost run over by a steam carriage and get scooped up into some brand new steampunk adventure. xD
Hmmm, now to come up with a scrappy driver and some witty dialogue. :D
Also, this song is awesome and you should totally check it out!!
